Resident Escapes Garage Fire on John R in Rochester Hills

Firefighters from Rochester and Rochester Hills responded to the blaze.

No one was injured in a fire that started in the garage of a home on the east side of Rochester Hills on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Rochester Hills and Rochester responded to the incident in the 500 block of John R at 11:45 a.m. According to Rochester Hills Fire Chief Ron Crowell, the garage, which was attached to the home, was "fully involved in fire" when they arrived.

"Crews were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes," Crowell said. "The son of the owner was home at the time and was able to escape without injury."

John R north of Avon Road was closed for about two hours because of the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
