Police: Woman, Estranged Husband Struggle Over Gun Outside Rochester Hills Home

Two shots were fired while couple's 11-year-old son was in a car nearby, police say.

A 44-year-old Orion Township woman is being held in the Oakland County Jail pending charges for her suspected role in an incident with a gun Sunday in Rochester Hills.

According to a report from the , a woman drove with her 11-year-old son to a home on Fountainbleau Street in the mobile home park Sunday morning; her estranged husband was at the home visiting a friend. 

The 45-year-old husband told officers he heard a gunshot outside the friend's home.

"Deputies later determined that his wife had fired a round from a handgun at her husband’s car, which was parked in the driveway," the report stated.

"Her husband came out of the home to see what was going on. His wife then pointed the gun at him. He grabbed the gun and forced it down toward the ground. She again discharged a shot, although the bullet did not strike anyone. He was able to wrestle the gun from her."

The man then removed his son from his wife's car and the woman attacked the man by pulling his hair, according to the report. The man and his son were able to get inside the home while the woman left in her car, the report stated.

Later that morning, the woman was arrested by sheriff's deputies at her home in Orion Township.

The case is expected to be reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutors office Tuesday.

This is the second weekend incident in which the sheriff's office was called to the Rochester Estates mobile home park. Saturday morning, . The car and mobile home were destroyed by fire.
