Police Blotter: Vandalism at Van Hoosen Middle School; Thieves Steal Tires, Catalytic Converters

Vandals smash windows at Van Hoosen Middle School

On Wednesday morning, the principal of reported two broken windows at the school. "It appeared that the windows may have been shot by some sort of pellet gun," read the sheriff's office report.

According to the principal, the windows cost $300 each to replace, the report said. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Tires stolen from trailers

Someone stole four tires from a tractor-trailer parked at the Webasto Corp. between July 2-5, according to a sheriff's office report. The person responsible also cut the tire pressure electronic monitor lines and wrote profanity in the dirt next to the trailer.

Someone also stole four more times from a tractor-trailer parked near AB Marketers between July 1-6, according to a sheriff's office report. The bare rims were still on the rear axles, the report said. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Window smashed on Avenger

On Wednesday, a resident on Crestwater Court reported that someone had smashed the rear window of his 1998 Dodge Avenger, which was parked in front of his apartment building. All four tires were flattened and "believed to be cut," according to a sheriff's office report. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.

Chain saw, gasoline stolen from truck

A resident on Donley Avenue reported Thursday that someone had stolen a Craftsman 18-inch gas-powered chainsaw and a can of gasoline from his pickup truck, which was parked in his driveway at the time, according to a sheriff's office report. The truck was not damaged, the report said. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Shoplifter steals two 32-inch televisions from Kmart

An unknown person stole two 32-inch Hitachi televisions valued at $839.98 on June 29 from Kmart by loading them into a shopping cart and walking out the receiving door of the store, according to a sheriff's office report. The man loaded the TVs into a vehicle, got in the passenger's side and rode away, the report said. There are no suspects at this time.

Thieves steal catalytic converter in broad daylight

On Sunday, a employee reported the catalytic convert on her vehicle missing, according to a sheriff's office report. The woman noticed the part missing during her lunch break that afternoon, the report said.

"She noticed the car sounded very loud, so she looked under the car and discovered the catalytic converter missing," read the report. There are no suspects at this time.

Mailbox knocked down, rocks rearranged

A man on Apple Hill Lane reported Wednesday that someone had knocked his mailbox down and moved two ornamental rocks from his front yard, placing them in the street, according to a sheriff's office report. There are no suspects at this time.

Skateboard stolen from garage

A resident on Kirts Court reported her son's Vector Longboard missing from the home's garage Wednesday, according to a sheriff's office report. There was no visible damage to the garage door, the report said. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Vandals smash car window while owner is home

A man on Cliffview Drive reported hearing "some laughing, and then a smash" outside of his apartment around midnight Wednesday night, according to a sheriff's office report. The man went outside and noticed the passenger side window of his vehicle had been broken, the report said. None of the contents of his vehicle were missing, and he did not see anyone else in the area, according to the report.
