Police Blotter: Home Invasion Thwarted, Intoxicated Man Hospitalized and More

The following information was supplied by the Rochester and Rochester Hills police departments. Where arrests or charges are mentioned it does not indicate conviction.

Following are highlights from recent police reports:

Home invasion attempt interrupted

An attempted home invasion was stopped early Monday morning when the victim yelled out after hearing glass breaking at the back door of a residence in the 300 block of Reitman Court.

A witness saw two men in dark clothing flee the scene and get into a silver car, possibly a newer model Ford Taurus, driven by a third man at approximately 2:15 a.m. Monday.

Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies responded with a K-9 unit that tracked the suspects 300 feet to where the silver car was previously parked, confirming the getaway vehicle.

An sheriff's office evidence technician discovered fingerprints and pry marks on the back door of the residence. The victim couldn't identify anything missing, but the witness saw one of the men carrying a grocery bag.

The three men were still at large Monday.

Intoxicated man taken to hospital

Rochester Police officers said they saw a suspected intoxicated 25-year-old Blissfield, MI, man drifting in and out of consciousness while leaning against a light post in the 200 block of Main Street early Feb. 26.

Officers asked the man to take a breath test, which registered a .34 blood alcohol content. The man was transported to in Rochester at approximately 2:30 a.m. Feb. 26.

Teen charged for suspended driver's license, expired plate

Rochester Police officers spotted a Ford F-150 with expired license plate tags traveling on Letica near Moran Drive.

A check was done to verify the expiration date of the tags and the officers pulled over the 17-year-old Rochester Hills driver at approximately 7:20 a.m. Feb. 27.

The driver was charged with driving with a suspended license and expired license plate and later released at the scene, police said.

Drunken driver stopped on Main Street

A 27-year-old Rochester man who police say drove his Jeep Cherokee carelessly through the intersection at University and Main Street and was pulled over by Rochester Police officers at approximately 3 a.m. Feb. 26.

The man was found to be intoxicated, police said, so he was arrested and released later that evening.
