Police Blotter: Money Taken from Christmas Cards, Snow Blower Stolen

A weekly roundup from the Rochester and Rochester Hills police departments prior to the holiday weekend. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Rochester Police officers responded about 11:30 p.m. Dec. 21 to teenagers disturbing Christmas lights in the 600 block of Wyngate Drive.  The teens were taken into custody and turned over to their parents. 

Money reported taken from Christmas cards

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies advised a resident to contact the Postmaster General after she reported on Dec. 17 that money was stolen from Christmas cards after they were delivered to her mailbox. 

The woman, who lives in the 700 block of Dakota, said relatives sent the two cards, each with $20 inside, the police report said. A neighbor living in the 200 block of Dakota found the two opened cards, minus any money, in her mailbox, and returned them to the first neighbor.

Another sign reported stolen in Rochester

Rochester Police officers responded to reports of theft of a sign in the area of Walnut Street and University Drive about 4 p.m. Dec. 17.   The sign is valued at approximately $300, and the matter is under investigation.

Snow blower disappears from garage

A resident in the 200 block of Wyngate reported to Rochester Police that a snow blower valued at $250 was apparently taken from an unlocked garage. 

Disruption outside Main Street Billiards

Rochester Police officers responded to Main Street Billiards on Dec. 17 at  12:30 a.m. to reports of a 27-year-old Rochester Hills man screaming at security personnel. The man was ordered to stop but did not cooperate, so he was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
