Person of Interest in Detroit Barber Shop Shooting Arrested in Rochester

Report: Person of interest in Oakland County Sheriff's Office custody on unrelated felonious assault charge.

A person of interest clad in body armor was arrested in Rochester in the investigation into a deadly shooting Wednesday at a barbershop on Detroit's east side, according to the Detroit News

According to the report, Al's Barber Shop on the 5100 block of East Seven Mile housed an illegal gambling operation and 20 to 30 people were gambling in a backroom of the shop when a shooter began spraying bullets, killing three and wounding six others. At least one person appeared to have returned fire.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig indicated someone shot through an open door with a high-powered rifle and that the person of interest, a convicted felon, was in Oakland County Sheriff's Office custody Thursday on an unrelated felonious assault charge, according to the Detroit News.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Craig indicated the person of interest appeared to have an ongoing feud with those gambling in the shop and might also be involved in at least two other violent crimes. He credited the Detroit Police, FBI, ATF and Rochester Police with finding the person of interest. 

Because of the ongoing investigation, Craig indicated that further information is not being released at this time.
