Men Cause Trouble in Walmart Parking Lot, Then Flee Police

The van they were driving is believed to have been stolen, police say.

Two men causing trouble at the Rochester Hills Walmart fled from police and were eventually caught — with stolen alcohol and what appears to be a stolen van.

The incident began in the parking lot of the store at 2:43 a.m. Sunday morning. According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, two men jumped from a van and were "about to assault one of the complainants when a friend pepper-sprayed one of the assailants."

The men got into the van and sped away; deputies located the van and tried to stop it, but the driver fled, the report stated. The van was eventually located parked and unoccupied in Pontiac; there were several bottles of stolen alcohol, with security devices still attached, in the van, the report stated.

Deputies eventually found one of the suspects at a home; they believe the van had been reported stolen last week in Waterford.

The investigation into the incident continues.
