Man Walking With Steak Knife Accused of Confronting Motorist in Rochester Hills

The 27-year-old pedestrian said he took the knife from a local bar before the Tuesday morning incident.

A man wielding a steak knife that he admitted to taking from a local bar was arrested for attempting to assault a motorist in Rochester Hills early Tuesday morning.

According to a report from the , deputies responded to a report of a felonious assault near Avon Road and Rochester Road at 2:45 a.m. A man told deputies a pedestrian "flipped him off" and may have thrown something at his vehicle as he was passing by.

"The victim stated that he turned his vehicle around and asked the suspect what his problem was," the report stated. "After some words were exchanged between the two parties, the suspect brandished a knife, held it out to the compainant and started walking toward him."

Deputies located the suspect, a 27-year-old Newport resident, who denied an altercation and said he would not cooperate until he spoke with his lawyer. 

The man was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail, where he remains pending arraignment.
