Man Steals Vehicle Left Running in Driveway, Leads Police on Chase

Man arrested after bailing from vehicle, fleeing on foot.

A Rochester Hills man who left his car running in the driveway to warm up encountered a surprise Friday when someone drove off with his vehicle.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials report a man at the 300 block of Maple Hill called to report the theft and the vehicle was spotted nearby by a Rochester Police officer. After a short pursuit from the Rochester office, the driver bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot to a nearby residence, but was taken into custody by the Rochester officer. The man was then turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. He was lodged at Oakland County Jail pending charges.

The driver was identified as a 24-year-old Bloomfield Township man.
