Man Robs CVS Store on Walton in Rochester Hills

Robber pointed his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and got away with $250 cash, police say.

A man who pointed his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun robbed the store across from while buying a Mountain Dew early Saturday morning, according to an report.

The incident occurred at 3:15 a.m. at the 24-hour CVS store at 3010 Walton Blvd., on the corner of Adams Road, according to the report.

An employee told sheriff's deputies the man, dressed in a grey hoodie and skull cap, "implied that he had a gun by pointing his hand in his pocket" and then tried to grab money out of the cash register. The employee did not see a gun.

The employee fought off the man until the man got behind the counter. The employee then ran to the back of the store and the man took about $250 out of the cash register, the report stated.

The man left the store and drove west on Walton Boulevard in a gold or silver older model Volvo, witnesses told sheriff's deputies.

The man was described as 5 foot 10 inches and about 40 years old. The sheriff's office obtained possible fingerprints from the Mountain Dew bottle left behind; a store video of the incident will be examined Monday.

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest; call Crimestoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP.

Heather... Let's see now maybe just maybe this may have something to do with the fact RH and mayor Bryan Barnett just laid of three Oakland County Sheriff Officers last year and then at the end of last year Bryan boisted "we" RH had a multimillion plus fund balance in last years budget. Heather now intelligence does not run high in our mayors office...but if we are sitting on all those millions the mayor likes to brag about maybe just maybe we should do some rehiring. P.S. our mayor wants to spend $142,857 on seven new vehicles Monday January 9th...should we let him?

Typo sorry should say "laid off" spelling definitely one of my weaker traits...was Andrew Jackson's weaker traits too...he must have done something right he's on every $20 dollar bill. LOL

I am appalled that the crime happened in my neighborhood but there was nothing in the article about poor police response. I don't think the lay offs had any effect one way or the other. I will be watching out for silver or gold Volvo.

Gary...yes I would agree unles they were patrolling the parking lot at the time. But please remember when the Oakland County Sheriff is at the scene after the crime or at the scene prosecuting a shoplifting crime at one of the many strip malls our mayor seems so anxious to build these our valuable hours that should be spent patrolling our neighborhoods.
