Man in Custody for Suspected Involvement in Crash that Burned Rochester Hills Home

The Saturday morning incident remains under investigation.

A 20-year-old Rochester Hills man was lodged in the Oakland County Jail on Sunday night, awaiting charges for his suspected involvement in a fiery car crash that destroyed a mobile home in the city over the weekend, according to sheriff's officers.

According to a news release from the , the first calls to the office came in shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday about a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling at a high rate of speed through the Rochester Estates mobile home park, located east of John R Road and north of Avon Road.

That car then reportedly crashed into a house in the 700 block of Legault Court in the park; the car and the home caught fire.

A neighbor pulled a female passenger from the burning car while the driver ran off, according to the report.

The suspected driver was found later Saturday, the report stated.

The female passenger was transported by the to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital; her condition was unknown Sunday night.

According to the sheriff's office report, the home and car were completely destroyed, and alcohol appeared to have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
