Man Arrested in Alleged Backyard Assault of Neighbor

Sheriff's officers respond to a report of a man being punched by his neighbor in Rochester Hills.

A 58-year-old Rochester Hills man was arrested Monday night after allegedly punching his neighbor in the face, knocking him to the ground in his back yard and breaking his nose, according to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report.

The man was being held at the Oakland County Jail on assault and battery charges.

According to the report, the victim was inside his home on Grosse Pines Drive, looking outside into his back yard, when he noticed his neighbor "throwing twigs and leaves" onto his property.

The man went outside into his yard and the neighbor "came rushing toward" him, began punching him with "both hands and a closed fist" and knocked him to the ground, the report stated.

The man told sheriff's deputies he had to crawl inside to call 911. When deputies arrived they found the man's face swollen and his nose crooked. He was taken to , where he was treated and then released.

There was no motive mentioned in the sheriff's office report. An arraignment has not been set.
