Hearing Adjourned for Off-Duty Rochester Officer Accused of Pointing Gun at Girl, Dad

Former Rochester Police officer Russell Glass will appear in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township on July 3.

A probable cause hearing Tuesday for a former Rochester Police officer accused of pulling a gun out on three Shelby Township residents while he was off duty has been adjourned.

The hearing for Russell Glass has been rescheduled for July 3 at 1:30 p.m. in 41-A District Court.

Prosecutors said on April 13, Glass followed a 16-year-old Shelby Township girl home after he and the young driver were involved in a minor crash. Once Glass reached the girl's home, he was met by the girl's father and neighbor, a former police officer.

In an , the girl's father, who asked that his identity remain concealed, said Glass pointed a gun at his chest, pointed it at his neighbor and waved it before his hysterical daughter.

“My whole body went into shock," the father said. "I remember staring down the barrel of his gun … and I couldn’t understand why it was that I was about to get shot. I just couldn’t comprehend what it was I did and why this trouble came to my house.”

after he was charged April 23 in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township. Glass, a Shelby Township resident and 16-year officer on the Rochester force, was arraigned on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearm possession and brandishing a firearm in public.

Glass had been placed on administrative leave by the Rochester Police Department after the incident occurred. He later resigned.
