Dropped Energy Drink Causes Driver to Crash Into House

Sheriff's office: Sterling Heights woman crashes into Rochester Hills home.

A dropped energy drink led to a car crashing into a Rochester Hills home on Thursday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office were dispatched late Thursday to the 1000 block of Rochelle Park near Livernois for a report of a car crashing into a house, according to an incident report.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old Sterling Heights woman, told deputies she was driving northbound on Livernois and dropped her energy drink. When she bent over to pick up the drink, she told deputies, she lost control of her car, driving off the road for about 100 yards and crashing through a garage.

According to the Sheriff's office, two vehicles inside the garage sustained damage in the collision. 

A passenger in the woman's car was treated at Crittenton Hospital for minor injuries and the driver was not injured in the incident, the report indicated. Deputies cited the woman on a charge of careless driving.

The homeowner told deputies he was in his basement at the time but did not hear the crash. No other injuries were reported.
