Crime Report: Thief Steals Jewelry from Rochester Homes, Items Stolen from Locker Room

A roundup of crime news from Rochester and Rochester Hills.

Jewelry taken in string of home break-ins

A string of jewelry thefts have occurred in Rochester, with three police reports of breaking and entering resulting in jewelry theft filed in the past week alone.

The suspect strikes during the day when no one is home. A white or silver Pontiac was seen in the area of the home invasions, and anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 248-651-9621.

  1. Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Bloomer on March 28; a house was broken into and several pieces of jewelry stolen between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  2. A home in the 300 block of Drace was broken into and robbed of their jewelry on the same day, March 28, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  3. Another jewelry theft occurred on March 24 between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Fairview.

Drivers arrested for Operating While Intoxicated

A 27-year-old Washington Township woman was stopped near Main Street and Romeo Road on Tuesday at 1:29 a.m. She was arrested, booked and released once sober pending a court date for Operating While Intoxicated.

Rochester Police stopped another vehicle Sunday at 2:50 a.m. in the area of Ludlow Avenue and Ironwood Drive. The 22-year-old Southfield man was arrested, booked and released once sober pending a court date for Operating While Intoxicated.

Doctor’s appointment ends in iPad co-pay

A 70-year-old Waterford Township woman went to Declaire Knee and Orthopedic Institute for an appointment on March 25. When she got home, she discovered her iPad was missing. The doctor’s office reported no one had turned anything in, and Oakland Country Sheriff’s deputies entered the iPad into the LEIN database.

Thief targets Rochester High School locker room

A freshman at Rochester High School filed a police with Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies after someone stole $570 worth of items from her unlocked locker, including her brown leather jacket, cell phone and iPod Nano. Other girls in the locker room also claimed to have things missing from their lockers. The suspect rummaged through lockers on March 24 some time after school ended for the day.
