Break-In Reported at Rochester Hills Apartment

Two sets of footprints in the snow were found at the scene, police say.

Police tracked footprints in the snow Saturday night from a reported break-in at a Rochester Hills apartment complex.

The tracks and scent were eventually lost, and the break-in remains under investigation, according to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report.

The incident was reported at 9:27 p.m. Saturday in the 10 block of Timberview, in the Hampton Apartments area. Sheriff's deputies found two sets of footprints in the snow leading to and from an open window of the apartment; a K-9 unit tracked the footprints and scent around the building and around the entire complex until the scent was lost, the report stated.
