Boise Police Trace Videos Showing Sex Abuse with Child to Rochester Hills

A Rochester Hills man accused of distributing videos depicting the sexual abuse of a child was arrested last week after the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about the videos from police in Boise, Idaho.

Bruce Howard Fonda, 63, was arrested last week after police tracked him down through social media profiles he had created, The Oakland Press reports. Boise police were first made aware of the videos and learned they had been transmitted from Rochester Hills.

Fonda was arrested and arraigned on May 7 on three counts of distributing or promoting child sexually abusive activity and three counts of use of a computer to commit a crime. Each of the charges carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and a $50,000 fine.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety, 10 percent allowed, by 52-3 District Magistrate Maria Soma.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the “constant presence of predators and pedophiles on the Internet” is well-documented.

“While it is great to catch these individuals, it is also an uneasy feeling that there are many others out there that continue to abuse and prey on children,” he said. “Once again, law enforcement agencies that collaborated well together allowed closure to this case.”

Fonda, who does not have a criminal record, will next appear in court on  May 20 before  52-3 District Judge Lisa Asadoorian.
