Babysitter Who Abandoned Tot, Stole Mom's Car Sentenced

Natalie Krisfalusi was sentenced to 153 days in jail, placed on two years' probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

Natalie Krisfalusi, the 26-year-old Sterling Heights babysitter who abandoned a Rochester Hills toddler and then stole his mother’s car last summer has been sentenced to 153 days in jail and two years’ probation.

Krisfalusi was sentenced Thursday after she pleaded no-contest to the charges of unlawfully driving away an automobile and fourth-degree child abuse in January, the Oakland Press reports.

Krisfalusi will receive credit for 35 days already served in jail. Oakland County Circuit Judge also sentenced her to 100 hours of community service.

The toddler’s mother came home Aug. 31, 2013, to that she had been locked out of her house after giving Krisfalusi her only key, and that her car was missing.

When she called the babysitter's cell phone, she reached Farmington Hills Police, who informed her the babysitter had been arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing the woman's car, but that her son was not inside the vehicle.

According to the department, the woman had not given her babysitter permission to use her car and had her key hidden.

Deputies arrived at the woman's house and forced their way inside the home, where the child was found safe and unharmed in a baby swing chair in the bedroom.

The woman told deputies she had left her child in the babysitter's care at about 2 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m., a friend of the woman told deputies the babysitter and child were seen at a nearby store.

The woman told deputies that Krisfalusi watched her child four or five times per week.
