Adult Allegedly Menaces Store Security and Runs with Scissors as 12-Year-Old Points Toy Gun

Two suspects have been taken into custody after they allegedly tried to steal tablet computers, televisions and other merchandise from a Rochester Hills Walmart.

Two suspects, one a 12-year-old adolescent and the other 20-year-old man. allegedly threatened Walmart security guards with scissors and a handgun in Rochester Hills after they attempted to leave without paying for tablet computers, televisions and other items Wednesday night.

The 12-year-old reportedly stepped out of a purple Dodge Durango, pulled a black handgun on officers and threatened to kill them after escaping attempted escape from the store on Adams Road about 11 p.m. and threatened to kill them, the Detroit News reports.

The older of the two suspects had loaded up a cart of merchandise, but was stopped by loss prevention officers before he could leave the store, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office officials told the newspaper. While detained in an office, he allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and threatened to kill officers before running from the store.

The security officers chased the suspect, and that’s when the 12-year-old reportedly stepped out of the parked SUV with what turned out to be an airsoft toy pistol when sheriff’s deputies caught up with them a short distance away.

The two suspects, both from Pontiac, were taken into custody. The 20-year-old is being held in the Oakland County Jail and the 12-year-old was referred to juvenile authorities.
