The Black Crowes, who have sold over 35 million albums and are known as one of rock’s best live acts, will have London Souls open at 6 p.m., Aug. 15. The iconic and influential band – Chris Robinson, Rich Robinson, Steve Gorman, Sven Pipien, Adam MacDougall and new member Jackie Greene – are reaching deep into their extensive catalog, producing a vast set list.
The band recently released Wiser For The Time, which features a mammoth eight sides on four vinyl albums containing 26 songs - 15 acoustic and 11 electric - from The Black Crowes’ five-night, sold-out NYC performances in the fall of 2010.
The Tedeschi Trucks Band, the 11-piece ensemble led by husband-wife team Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, have proven themselves one of the most uplifting acts on the road today.
Formed in 2010, the Tedeschi Trucks Band delivers a hearty roots-rich musical mix fronted by Trucks’ signature slide guitar sound and Tedeschi's pliant, honey-to-husk voice. The band kicked off 2013 in the studio where they recorded their newly released studio album, "Made Up Mind," before hitting the road.
Following the Crowes-Tedeschi show, electronic rock band STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) joins Chicago’s Umphrey’s McGee at Meadow Brook on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.
STS9 came together in Atlanta more than a decade ago and has: sold out the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado; performed at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Coachella and Electric Daisy Carnival among many other top festivals; sold out shows across the country as an acoustic set-up in opera houses or as an electronic act in amphitheatres; and performed with Jay-Z in arenas.
And fans of the Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee know that there are only two guarantees -- you never know what you’re going to get and Umphrey’s always delivers.
The band, formed in 1997 at the University of Notre Dame, has cultivated a loyal fanbase with a sophisticated mix of cutting-edge technology, a stellar light show, and a multi-genre experience complete with playful covers (ranging from Toto to Metallica). Their latest release ‘Death By Stereo’ is a concise, melodic batch of clever arrangements that puts Umphrey’s McGee -- Brendan Bayliss, Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins, Andy Farag, Kris Myers and Ryan Stasik in a category all their own.
