Community Corner

Veteran Club Soccer Coach Ken Hernandez Discusses Rochester United

Rochester United will hold a soccer camp July 16-20.

Rochester United is the collaborated effort of all three high school soccer programs in the Rochester School District, coming together for the kids of Rochester and the surrounding communities.

Conceived, designed and staffed by the coaches of ,  and high schools, with Rochester community kids specifically in mind, there is one common goal: the unity, sportsmanship and sharing the love of the game together in a competitive, instructive and nurturing environment.

Each of the three programs is highly regarded throughout the state, which speaks highly of the Rochester soccer community in general. With that idea at the heart of Rochester United, the driving emphasis of the camp is to foster bonds of camaraderie even across school lines, as well as to promote an even greater sense of pride in the players and belonging to the Rochester community itself.

RU is also committed to identifying and developing the youth soccer players, preparing them to play in the Rochester School District. The idea is that those who wish to play for high school, will very likely play at one of the three community schools.

With that notion, it is the actual coaches of Rochester, Stoney Creek and Adams high schools on the field every day of camp.  The players get to know the coaches that they hope to be playing for someday, and can begin to become acclimated to the expectations and standards of high school play. At the same time, while working on physical, technical and tactical aspects of the game, the coaches can begin to get a look at upcoming players as well as returners and help prepare them for upcoming tryouts, which are highly competitive at all three programs.
