Former Rochester Mayor Roy Rewold Dies

Former Rochester mayor Roy Rewold has died. He was 84.

Rewold, who first was elected to the Rochester Village Council in 1959 and took office on March 12, 1959, died on Oct. 2.

Rewold served on the Council through the incorporation of the City of Rochester in January of 1967 and was elected Mayor of the City at the inaugural meeting held Feb. 13, 1967. He served as Mayor until Nov. 8, 1971.

A 1946 graduate of Rochester High School, Rewold married Beverly J. Bell of Utica on Dec. 30, 1948.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo St., in Rochester.
