Your Guide to the Holiday Season at Disney World

The holiday season has officially arrived at the Walt Disney World Resort, bringing not-to-be-missed special events.  Here's your guide to the spirited celebrations going on this season.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom): A holiday parade, a special fireworks show, hot chocolate and cookies, character encounters...and SNOW on Main Street!  What better way to celebrate the holidays?  The party runs on select evenings from now until Christmas, and separate admission is required.  Trying to decide between a few possible party dates? Tuesdays are typically the least crowded.

The Candelight Processional (Epcot): A guest narrator is joined by a talented choir and orchestra in the retelling of the story of Christmas. This event runs nightly from now until the end of December, and separate admission is required.  A few tips: if you know you'd like to see a particular narrator, be sure to check the schedule before you purchase tickets (among others, this year's narrators include Neil Patrick Harris, Sigourney Weaver, and Whoopi Goldberg). Also note that seating for the show is limited, but you can guarantee your spot by reserving a Candelight Dinner Package at select Epcot restaurants.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (Hollywood Studios) - From dusk until park closing each night, millions of twinkling lights flicker in perfect harmony with the music of the season.  This year, guests can become part of the show with Glow With the Show Ears, designed to twinkle along with the lights and music.  The light display runs through January 5th and is free with park admission.

Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade (Animal Kingdom) - The Jammin' Jungle Parade (Animal Kingdom's year-round afternoon parade) has been transformed for the holiday season.  Each afternoon at 3:45pm, this holiday parade brings festive music and decor to the streets of Animal Kingdom. While there are plenty of good spots to catch this celebration, our favorite place is in Asia outside Flights of Wonder (catch the 3:00pm show, then grab a spot along the route).

Resort Decor - Breathtakingly beautiful during the holidays, onsite Disney resorts are a destination in their own rite. Consider making a dinner reservation at a monorail resort, followed by an evening of "resort-hopping" to check out the stunning holiday decor.  This is a great way to get into the holiday spirit while enjoying a welcome respite from the parks!
