Choosing the Perfect Disney Resort, Part Three: The Value Resorts

In this third part of my series on how to choose the perfect Disney resort, I'll discuss Disney World's onsite value resorts (you can find information on the deluxe resorts and moderate resorts by clicking on these links).  The most economical option of Disney's onsite resorts, these vibrantly-themed hotels offer the same perks as more expensive Disney resort hotels, including complimentary airport transfers, transportation to and from Disney theme parks, and outstanding customer service. Most guest rooms at value resorts are smaller than at moderate or deluxe resorts, and there are no onsite full-service restaurants. Nevertheless, value resorts are an excellent alternative for guests looking to "stay inside the magic" on a budget.

Celebrating Disney-Pixar favorites, the Art of Animation Resort is Disney World's newest onsite value resort.  Choose a standard room in The Little Mermaid section or spread out in a family suite in The Lion KingFinding Nemo, or CARS sections.  These suites include a master bedroom with a queen bed, a separate living area with a sleeper sofa and pull-down Murphy bed, a kitchenette, and TWO full baths!!

Also offering family suites, Disney's All-Star Music Resort (one of three All-Star Resorts) is the perfect place for music lovers to honor some of the world’s most popular music genres.  Movie and sports enthusiasts will find their respective meccas at the All-Star Movies and All-Star Sports Resorts.  All three All-Star Resorts feature impeccably themed pools and lobbies, adorned with oversized icons representing their theme.

The final onsite Disney value resort is the Pop Century Resort.  This resort brings the fads and fashions of the 1950s-1990s back to life, and it is home to what is widely considered to be the best food court of all the Disney value resorts.

So, which value resort should you choose?  As always, the answer depends on your needs and preferences.  If you have small children or a large family (or if you love Disney-Pixar movies), the Art of Animation Resort would be your best choice.  If you're looking for a clean hotel with a unique food court, go with the Pop Century Resort.  There is nothing expressly wrong with the All-Star Resorts; in fact, they're a lot of fun.  I just personally don't find anything to draw me to them.

One last word on value resorts.  These resorts (especially the All-Star Resorts) frequently host large groups for special events (including an annual cheerleading competition).  Unless your idea of fun includes battling for bus space with hundreds of teenagers, I always recommend checking to see if your stay at a Disney value resort will coincide with one of these events.
