Here's How Your Kids Can Be a Part of This Year's Halloween Hoot

It's one of the most popular events of the season at Dinosaur Hill in Rochester.

Have a kid with a flair for the dramatic?

Consider having them join up with one of two drama groups at Rochester’s .

Kids ages 8-11 who choose to join the Drama Club will meet once a week for six weeks to work on an original skit that will be performed at Dinosaur Hill’s Halloween Hoot, a popular family Halloween tradition in Rochester planned for Oct. 19, 20,and 21.

Older performers, ages 12-18 will have the opportunity to work with a Dinosaur Hill drama coach in Dinosaur Hill’s Master Class. The Masters group will delve into the art of stagecraft from start to finish, as they cooperate to write, block and perform their own skit.

Program Director Sharon Taber said that kids come back year after year to take advantage of the opportunity to be part of one of Rochester's most popular Halloween event.

Here's what you need to know to participate.

  • Drama Club will both meet on Thursdays from 4:30-6 p.m. from Sept. 13 - Oct. 18.
  • Master Class will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m. from Sept. 11 - Oct. 16.
  • Performances on evenings of Oct. 19, 20, and 21 (at the 2012 Halloween Hoot).
  • Pre-registration is required by Sept. 10 and space is limited. Cost is $60 per enrollee or $50 for members of Dinosaur Hill.
