News, views, and photos of the Stoney Creek Varsity football team

Following a disappointing loss to the Troy Colts the 2-1 Cougars will visit the Lake Orion Dragons on Friday night. The Cougars are proving they will be competitive in the OAA Red division. The team displayed poise and determination in a game last Friday that could have gotten out of hand. A thrilling 85 yard pass play in the 3rd quarter demonstrated talent and speed that will challenge each foe.

Sad to report another loss by the Cougars, but it was a thrilling game in the rain against the Clarkston Wolves, one of the top teams in the OAA Red. Stoney played them close until Clarkston went ahead with 1:15 to go. It looked like the Cougars coaching staff made some smart adjustments since last week’s blow out loss to Lake Orion. Stoney proved to be a formidable match for the entire game. A disappointing loss for the Cougars that would have been a huge upset, but we’re looking forward seeing them building on this for the remaining four games.

After three straight losses the Cougars will try to even their overall record when they visit Troy Athens on Friday. Athens gained their first victory last week and will be fired up for their homecoming game.

Another thrilling up and down game as the Cougars come out on top when Sean Scullen intercepts a pass in the end zone with 20 seconds left to seal a 35-31 win! Noah Beck scores the winning TD on a nifty run. Welcome back Noah!

Since nearly upsetting Clarkston, the Cougars have now won 3 in a row. Last night was against 5-2 cross-town rival Rochester. Last week their starting QB, Justin Allor returned from a knee injury and now the explosive offense and stingy defense is proving it’s ready for a playoff run. That could begin if they win next week and get a 6th win. The turning point of the game with the game tied at 14-14. That happened in the 4th quarter when Stoney had to punt. The Rochester punt returner fumbled the catch and Stephen Grgurich was there to dive in and recover the ball. Stoney then scored on the first play to make it 21-14. They scored two more times in the 4th to finish the game 35-14.
