Slow Cooker Granola

Make your own delicious and healthy granola in your slow cooker! You'll save yourself money ... and a ton of sugar!

I bet you didn't know you could make your very own, homemade granola! Well, you can and it's absolutely delicious. When you buy granola in the store, it's expensive! It's also hard to find a type of granola that contains all things that you like. By making your own granola, you're saving yourself money and you can control what you put into it ... especially the amount of sugar you're adding!

I think you'll find this very easy to do and well worth the "time" you put into it. It will last several weeks in an air-tight container, but you could easily freeze this as well. It was delicious as cereal, on a cobbler I made, with yogurt and would be yummy on ice cream as well!

I used Apple Butter when I made this the first time, but used regular butter the next couple times I made it. It was a pretty close call as to which I liked better!

I hope you try this with all your favorite things! You can't go wrong here! Experimenting is encouraged!

I recommend making this in a 5-quart or larger slow cooker.

Slow Cooker Granola

Ingredients:
6 cups Old-Fashioned Oats
3/4 cup almonds, chopped
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
3/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/4 cup flax seed
1 cup craisins
1 cup dehydrated apples, chopped
1 cup apple butter (you find this by the PB&J)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup

Directions:
Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl and stir. Mix together the apple butter, honey and maple syrup. Spray your slow cooker insert with non-stick spray and pour your granola mixture in there. Pour the apple butter mixture on top and mix thoroughly!

Cook on LOW with the lid vented for 4-6 hours, stirring frequently, until browned and slightly clumpy.

Serve and Enjoy!
