Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11: Tell Us About Your Mom

Tell us what makes your mom special, or post a memorial tribute below in the comments.

A few weeks ago, we asked Patch readers to tell us what make their mothers special. Here’s a sampling of what we heard:

John McCulloch of Royal Oak: “My mother used to say, ‘He who throws dirt loses ground.’ "

Michelle Schwartz of St Clair: “I remember my mom always being there for me, no matter what. I love her super duper much. I will never stop.”

Lisa Grace of Ann Arbor: “My mom was filled with wisdom (she still is). She told me to things would always be better in the morning whenever I was haven't a crummy day, and they always were!”

Sharon Casserly of Rochester Hills: “My mom raised four children on her own and was the most unselfish mother ever. We are all two years apart, so she had her hands full, but always put us first. She always did without just so we could have things and do things. She shuttled us around, got us involved in school activities, volunteered for any event that she could, made hand-made Easter outfits and Halloween costumes and made every holiday special. To this day, she is my best friend and the greatest mom ever!”

Randy Holloway of Detroit: “My mother always told me if I ever wanted something to just go get it. I never understood her words until she passed away in late 2007. I knew I always wanted to be a filmmaker, but I was always unsure if it could happen with me living here in Michigan. However, I put all pretenses aside and just went and did it. Now my first major feature film is premiering this summer; ‘Bianca.’ the movie, coming soon. Thank you Mother.”

Come back to Patch tomorrow for more great memories of Mom. And share yours in the comments below.
