Lucido Fine Jewelry Gives Back to Metro Detroit Community

Jeweler partners with local athletes, charities to give back to community.

Lucido Fine Jewelry in downtown Rochester has been in a charitable mood in recent years, according to sales manager Paul Khamou.

The jeweler has partnered with the Detroit Lions’ Steven Tulloch and Nate Burleson, and several Metro Detroit charities to give back to the community, Khamou said.

“It’s very, very important to give back to the community,” he said.

The jeweler has partnered with Tulloch’s “Operation 55” charity, which aims to bring 55 underprivileged kids to the dentist, and Burleson’s charitable efforts, which provide school supplies for area children.

Khamou said he was touched by the athletes’ charitable mindset, and that Lucido is thrilled to get involved with their efforts. The jeweler shares a partnership with the athletes, where they help endorse the jeweler and the business contributes to the athletes’ charities.

“Those two guys are just always willing to do whatever it takes (to help others),” Khamou said. “Whatever they want us to do, we’ll do it for them.”

In one instance, Khamou said, Tulloch had seen a news story about a woman whose house burned down just before Christmas and just after losing her job and having her husband leave her. Lucido Fine Jewelry helped Tulloch donate gift cards to restock on groceries and gifts to ensure the woman’s children had a proper Christmas.

“We presented it to them at a spaghetti dinner and the look on their faces and how appreciative they were hit us hard,” Khamou said. “We didn’t care how much it was. We wanted to help a family around Christmas time.”

Seeing the charity in effect, Khamou said, is one of the unforgettable aspects of helping the underprivileged.

“The look on the people’s faces, you can just tell in the tough situation they’re in, they’re very grateful and very happy,” he said.

The jeweler also has partnered with Angels of Hope—“They’re near and dear to our heart,” Khamou said—which helps kids who are fighting cancer.

“It’s so sad to see these little kids who are in hospitals, they are so secluded from the outside world, not being kids and always in a hospital,” Khamou said. “We do as much as possible to give them a childhood.”

This, he said, involves buying birthday presents for the children or helping families with various expenses.

“Every time a family needs grocery money or can’t make a bill because hospital bills are so high, Lucido is first to help,” he said.

The jeweler also works with March of Dimes and chips in with other charitable opportunities when the need arises.

“We wanted to show our customers and the community that we want to give back,” he said.
