6 organizations to receive minigrants today at Brooksie Way sponsor reception.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will be awarding more than $7,000 in Brooksie Way Minigrants to six community organizations today during the sponsor reception for the HealthPlus Brooksie Way.

Running legends Bill Rodgers and Greg Meyer—the last American male to win the Boston Marathon—are expected to attend the 6 p.m. reception, which will be at the Royal Park Hotel, 600 E. University in Rochester.

The Brooksie Way Minigrant program has awarded more than $100,000 to support community health and fitness projects in the county. The minigrants are supported with proceeds from the half marathon, 10k and 5k races, which begin Sunday at 8 a.m. on the campus of Oakland University. Registrations can be made at TheBrooksieWay.com.
