Community Corner

3rd Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser

3rd Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser is set for Thursday, November 15th, 2012, starting at 5 pm until 9 pm at Firebrick Gallery and Pottery Studio, 404 S. Main Street, Rochester, Michigan. This event will benefit God’s Helping Hands of Michigan, Inc., in their efforts to provide meals, clothing and support to families in Southeastern Michigan.

The Empty Bowl premise is simple: independent potters, art associations, art schools and other groups within the community create handcrafted ceramic bowls. Guests purchase tickets, which entitles them to a bowl in which is served a simple meal of soup with bread and dessert donated by area restaurants. They take their selected bowl home with them as a symbol of the hunger and uncertainty struggling families face daily.

Handcrafted bowls have been donated by local pottery artists as well as student artists.
