$2,342 Raised for Rochester Mother Battling Cancer

Peggy Schodowski seeking funds on GoFundMe for treatments.

An online campaign to help cover a Rochester mother's medical bills has raised $2,342 toward its $15,000 goal.

Peggy Schodowski of Rochester is seeking funds to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses from cancer treatments.

The campaign hopes to raise $15,000.

Schodowski created the fundraiser on GoFundMe.com in September and she continues to receive donations. Patch has partnered with GoFundMe and is helping to highlight worthy campaigns in local communities.

The page reads:

"I was diagnosed with Stage 3C Colon Cancer. Cancer Returned Aug 2013 & Now spread to Liver (stage 4) with a large grapefruit sized mass (10x7x10cm) on my ovary also confirmed cancerous from colon."

According to the campaign page, Schodowski incurred sizable out-of-pocket medical costs from treatments, including a $6,000 charge after going into anaphylactic shock during two kidney stent replacements that led to a hospital bill totaling more than $6,000 out of pocket. Schodowski stated she has insurance, but she is still facing mounting expenses for drugs and treatments.

"I want very much to be with my daughter and continue treatment and continue to pay my premiums/copays," she wrote.
