The History of the English Language: The First Thousand Years

Jim Glenn's presentation outlines the development of the language in the context of history with focus on the waves of invaders/settlers from the time of the Roman occupation of what was the completely Celtic Britain beginning in the first century A.D. through the "Old English" period of the Anglo Saxons and Vikings (Norse/Danes) from the mid 400's to the mid 1100's.
