Love
them or hate them, we all rely on electronics. Unfortunately we don’t always
know how to safely dispose of them. Electronics don't belong in the garbage.
Many contain heavy metals such as lead, cadmium or mercury.

Electronics
& Computers
Many
of us have several types of household electronics that must be safely disposed
of after they’ve run their course. How many of these items might you find in
your own household?
• CD, DVD and MP3 players, VCRs, radios, speakers,
stereos and remote controls;
• Computer equipment (desktops, laptops, tablets,
monitors, keyboards);
• Printers, fax machines and data storage
devices;
• Game consoles and camera equipment.
Thankfully,
Safe Harbor Recycling will be providing free electronic recycling (eCycling) at
the MI Earth Day Fest 2014, in the recycle region. Free electronic recycling is
available to both businesses and households. Electronics can be dropped off
anytime during normal MI Earth Day Fest hours.
Safe Harbor Recycling also provides convenient free pick-up service, 7
days a week, from 9 am to 7 pm. Call Patty at 248-240-4899 to schedule pick-up.
Safe Harbor Recycling will be asking participants to sign a pledge to take 5
eco-actions; recycling is one of them.
Remember, in an effort to secure your private data, it’s STRONGLY
recommended to
erase your hard drive BEFORE recycling your computer.
