Artist Reception at Fieldstone Winery, Meet Michelle Tanguay.

Drawing inspiration from her time at College for Creative Studies, Michelle Tanguay and friend, Nina Marcus-Kurlonko, began curating art shows as Pop Up Detroit in 2010.

In the past year, Tanguay participated in the Red Bull House of Art, has been featured in the Examiner, and the Red Bull Bulletin. In her popular series of color portraits, Tanguay, explored her unhealthy obsession with candy. Tanguay's love of sugary sweets landed her in the dentist’s chair a handful of times last year, resulting in two root canals, 8 fillings, and a room full of effervescent paintings.

This year, Tanguay has moved away from the candy coated color palate and is exploring the shadow world of black and white painting. These portraits of the Detroit characters that fill her sphere are a testament to Tanguay’s technique and another bright, albeit black and white feather in her artistic cap.

All her work on display at Fieldstone Winery is for sale.

Artist Reception is Saturday, February 22nd, from 6 to 9 pm. It is free and open to the public. Meet the artist, free wine tasting offered by Fieldstone Winery and hors'd'oeuvre by Holy Cannoli and Fieldstone Winery.
