Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Group

Alzheimer's Association -
Greater Michigan Chapter Support Group

The community is invited
to the Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Group, the third Thursday of
each month at 6 pm at the Auburn Hills Community Center.  The group is
facilitated by a volunteer of the Alzheimer's Association, and provides an
opportunity for caregivers to discuss how their lives have been affected as
they care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease.

A safe and supportive
environment will be created so group members can share feelings and coping
strategies, reduce feelings of loneliness, as well as find new meaning,
connection, and hope. Monthly meetings will be held based on interest and
community response. Please call for details and information on future dates and
times. Volunteer respite assistance may be available.

For those in need of a
mid-day group, a support group also meets at the Orion Center the third
Wednesday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. The Orion Center is located at 1335
Joslyn Road. For more information or directions, call 248-391-0304. To speak
with the volunteer group facilitator, Judy Shirley, call 248-627-8571. Respite
care for individuals with dementia is provided by the Orion Center at this
