Your Guide to the Weekend Around Rochester

Green Living Festival, Relay for Life and outdoor concerts top the things-to-do list.

It's one of the largest gatherings of natural and organic products and services around, and it's happening in downtown Rochester this weekend. The festival is 4-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. It will take place at the corner of Third and Water streets in downtown Rochester. A "Party for the Planet," featuring live music and other entertainment behind the , will coincide with the festival from 4-10 p.m. Friday, 12-10 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. .

From 9 a.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, celebrate life and raise money for cancer research at Hart Middle School. Hundreds of people are participating in the 24-hour event; the public is invited to attend — there is no admission charge and plenty of nonstop entertainment and activities on site.

Head to the International Velodrome at Bloomer Park at 7:30 p.m. Friday to watch the bike racers in action. It's $5 for adults (kids are free), plus a $5 admission to the park.

It's one of the largest animal adoption events in the nation, and it's happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

As with every Saturday during the summer, the market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Water and Third streets on the east side of Main Street. This weekend's market coincides with the Green Living Festival across the street.

Two days of summer entertainment, activities and food are planned for downtown Auburn Hills this weekend. The city's annual Summerfest is happening from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Auburn and Squirrel roads downtown.

Outdoors, in concert

In addition to all of this summer fun, there are three opportunities to catch outdoor music this weekend.

  •  at 7 p.m. Friday at Meadow Brook Music Festival.
  •  at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
  •  at 7 p.m. Friday at Bear Creek Nature Park.
