What Happens When 800 Golf Balls Fall From the Sky in Rochester?

The sky was clear over the R&S Sharf Golf Course in Rochester on Monday as a helicopter dumped hundreds of golf balls onto the green. 

The backdrop was the golf course at , where the Rochester Rotary Club met for their annual charity golf outing.

Rotary members were invited to sponsor a ball and earn a chance at winning a grand prize of $5,000 if their ball was the one that fell the closest to the hole down below. In all, 800 balls fell from the helicopter for the event. 

It was the second year of the golf ball drop; organizer Jay Eastman said he hopes to make it an event for the whole community to be involved in in the future.

This year, the golf outing benefited the Oakland University Center for Autism Research, Education and Support (OUCARES), which is hosting a film camp on the university campus this week.
