Weekend Planner: Things To Do Around Town

It's the weekend! Let Patch help you plan.

You made it to the weekend; here is a recap of things to do:

  • Where/When: , Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: The Village of Rochester Hills will shine with lights, and several special guests will be on hand to help celebrate. Of course, Santa will be there. So will Radio Disney and holiday carolers from Meadow Brook Hall. Santa's arrival will mark the start of his stay in the gazebo at The Village.   • Where/When: , Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the door or by clicking here.
  • Cost: $7 in advance or $9 at the door for adults; $5 in advance or $7 at the door for seniors and students
  • Why go: The Michigan Youth Theatre will perform the classic The Picture of Dorian Gray. Dorain Gray is granted eternal youth and beauty, but his soul suffers the consequences in this adaptation of Oscar Wilde's famous novel. This play is not suitable for children due to mature content, violence and drug use.

  • Where/When: , Friday from 10:30-11:15 a.m.
  • Registration: You can register by clicking here. A valid library card is needed to register and a confirmation number is required at the door to enter.
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Nancy Penvose will put on a puppet show for kids ages birth to 5. The puppet show is a story of a little girl in a red cape who decided to take a shortcut to grandma's house and meets an naughty fella along the way. Kids can expect to sing along and participate.

  • Where/When: , Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office, by calling 248-377-3300 or by clicking here.
  • Cost: This weekend is Santa's Special Matinees for a reduced price of $17 for adults and $15 for kids 5-12.
  • Why go: This family classic will get you into the holiday spirit with the story of a cruel miser and the ghosts that convince him to change his mean-spirited ways. The show stars Thomas D. Mahard as Ebenezer Scrooge and features several Rochester-area youth in rolls of Cratchit family children. This is the 30th season of the holiday show; it runs through Dec. 23.
