Weekend Planner: Seussical, Drumming and 'Twilight'

Giving you the stuff the weekend is made of for Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township.

Welcome to the weekend! Give a sigh of relief, you made it! Now it is time to start planning.  All week, we've been counting down the days until the weekend, giving you options for things to do. Here's a recap:

 

  • Where/when: , showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
  • Tickets: Tickets may be purchased at the high school from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today or by visiting adamstheatre.com.
  • Cost: $10 for children and seniors; $12 for adults
  • Why go: The whole family will have a good time watching these talented high school students perform the musical version of Horton Hears a Who.

  • Where/When: , Friday at 8 p.m.
  • Tickets: www.ticketmaster.com
  • Cost: $35.35 for pavilion and orchestra pit seating, $15 selected pavilion seating and general lawn admission.
  • Why go: The Dirty Joke Show Tour, starring Rochester's own Geechy Guy, will take you into an alley behind a comedy club for a conversation with three comedians after the show. Guy was named 2011 Best Comedian by Las Vegas Weekly and last week appeared as a contestant on "America's Got Talent.

 

  • Where/When: Royal Park Hotel, 4-7p.m. Sunday.
  • Tickets: You can purchase tickets at www.downtownrochestermi.com/shop
  • Cost: $30 adults, $10 kids.
  • Why go: This benefit for the Big, Bright Light Show will keep you entertained with dancing, music and a strolling dinner. Kids can make their own ice cream sundaes and magic wands. Raffles and door prizes will be offered, too.

  • Where/When: , Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.
  • Registration: Register here, confirmation numbers are required at the door.
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Lori Fithian will have your kids moving and grooving with her "Drummunity -- Rhythmic Fun for Everyone!" Lori's collection of multicultural instruments and music is both entertaining and educational for the little set.

  • at , Friday at 7:30 p.m., $5 per car to enter the park.
  • at the , Saturday at 2 p.m. Free.
  • , featuring Twilight Eclipse (PG-13), Saturday at 9:15 p.m. on E. 3rd and Water Street. Free.
  • , Saturday at 8 a.m. at Eastwood Beach. $7.
