Weekend Planner: Hot Rods, Concerts, Clay and Skating

What's going on this weekend in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township.

You made it, the weekend is here! We have given you some suggestions on things to do around town; here is a recap:

 

  • Where/When: Downtown Rochester, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Check out the cool hot rods parked downtown. There will be trophies awarded in a slew of different categories, including Custom Cars, Hot Rods, Corvettes and Muscle cars. Don't miss the music, art, food, raffles and door prizes. All proceeds will benefit the . The Rochester Lions Club will be your host for the day.

  • Where/When: , Saturday 10 a.m.-noon.
  • Registration: To register for this class, click here.
  • Cost: $55
  • Why go: Are you looking for a fun art class or something different to do? This one will have you using your hands, clay tools, and a slab roller. You will make three small cups out of clay while getting your hands dirty and being creative.

  • Where/When: Village of Rochester Hills, at the Gazebo. Saturday, 5-8 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Solo act Pete McCauley will entertain you with his music while you relax on the lawn. Don't forget a blanket and a picnic dinner, or you can pick up something from one of the three grocery stores – , and  – within walking distance of the gazebo.

  • When:  will amaze the kids with his awesome yo-yo skills starting at 11 a.m.; you can register for this event here.  begins at noon; bring a picnic lunch, and don't forget to register for the event here. And don't forget to register your kids here for  at 1 p.m.; the matinee features several short fairy-tale movies. Finally, at 2 p.m., kids can watch ; blankets, pillows and covered drinks are allowed and don't forget to register here
