Weekend Planner: From Moonlight Wagon Rides to a Tunnel of Terror

Here's what's happening around Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township this weekend.

The weekend is here! All week we have been giving you some suggestions of things to do. Here is a recap:

  • Where/When: The Palace of Auburn Hills, Friday at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Cost: $18 and $25 seating is available.
  • Tickets: www.ticketmaster.com
  • Why go: Mickey, Minnie and their special pals will go for a Magical Journey on their ice skates. Your kids will love some of their favorite characters as they go into different magical worlds. The show features Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid and the Lion King. Your kids will think you are a hero!

  • Where/When: , Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
  • Cost: If you want to just watch, it's free. If you want to compete, there is a $10 fee.
  • Why go: Shredfest is South Street Skate Park's largest competition of the year. There are competition times based on age. Ages 5-7 at 1 p.m., ages 8-10 at 1:20 p.m., ages 11-13 at 1:45 p.m. and ages 14-16 at 2:15 p.m. Open class skateboarding starts at 2 p.m. There are prizes for the top three winners in each age bracket and for the top three open class. Don't miss out on the DJ and food.

  • Where/When: Stony Creek Metropark Nature Center (4300 Main Park Dr, Shelby Township), Friday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Registration: Preregistration and prepayment is required, call 586-781-9113 to save your spot.
  • Cost: $6 per person
  • Why go: Enjoy a beautiful nature-themed wagon ride through the woods. Afterward, there is a bonfire with marshmallows, music, cider and donuts: the perfect fall evening!

  • Where/when: , Friday and Saturday through October from 7:30-10:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $10
  • Why go: The Rochester Area Jaycees have been putting this haunted house on for more than 40 years, and they know how to get a scare out of you. If you are craving a dose of fear for the start of the Halloween season, check this out.
