Tienken Road Repaving to Begin Wednesday

Traffic will be limited to one way, eastbound, from Squirrel Road to the Rochester Hills border.

It's time to add another road project to our summer construction list.

This one is technically not in our cities: it's just across the border in the city of Auburn Hills. But it's likely to affect many traveling to and from Rochester and Rochester Hills over the next month.

Tienken Road from Squirrel Road in Auburn Hills to the Rochester Hills border just west of Adams High School will be repaved beginning this week.

In his blog on the Auburn Hills city website, City Manager Peter Auger asks readers to "pardon our dust."

"We are attempting to make these improvements with the least amount of inconvenience, but we realize any construction has frustration for the normal driver," Auger writes. "Our recommendation would be to experiment before hand to find the best routes around the area. We hope you don’t wait till the last minute to look for alternative route, because that will be the day when you are late for an important meeting or to pick up the children.

"I wish there was a way to reconstruct these routes without the inconvenience, but we haven’t figured it out yet."

The Tienken Road project is one of several ongoing in the Rochester area. and when they are expected to be wrapped up.
