Bake Sale Excitement Heating Up in Downtown Rochester

The DDA says 371 dozen baked goods have been pledged for Saturday morning event.

There are kitchens heating up across Rochester right now.

They're presumably baking the 109 loaves of bread, 170 dozen cookies and 20 pies that are among offerings expected for the in downtown Rochester on Saturday morning.

The bake sale is an effort of the Downtown Development Authority and a fundraiser for Share Our Strength, a national organization intent on ending childhood hunger in America.

Rochester Patch stopped by the DDA office on Friday afternoon to drop off a Chocolate Chip Zucchini Loaf (with zucchini grown from our plot in the ) and also to see what treats have been collected so far.

We found a fraction of the 371 dozen treats that were expected — meaning bakers are busy now making the treats fresh for tomorrow morning.
