Summer, Day 36: Donate Your Garden Bounty

Rochester Patch will give you something to do today and every day of summer.

There are 94 days of summer, from June 21-Sept. 22. Along the way, Rochester Patch will offer something unique to do every day.

Day 36: Donate your garden bounty

Whether you have an overflow of tomatoes growing in your backyard or too many heads of lettuce to eat before they turn brown, there is a local spot that will put your homegrown produce to good use.

The collects nonperishable and perishable foods to distribute to families in need in the Rochester area. There is a drop-off box for canned or boxed foods right inside the door of the house, which is located inside . If you donate perishable items such as produce grown in your garden, you can give those, too — but make sure they are given to a Community House employee so they can be refrigerated.
