Start Fire Prevention Week at the Rochester Fire Department Sunday

Here's a look at all of the week's fire station events around Rochester and Rochester Hills.

It's National Fire Prevention Week, and departments in Rochester and Rochester Hills are inviting residents to get a hands-on look at how they fight and help prevent fires in the cities.

  • Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. you're invited to an Open House at the Rochester Fire Department downtown. Highlights include fire station tours, demonstrations, kids' activities, food, and an EMS helicopter visit (helicopter is scheduled to arrive at noon, weather permitting).
  • On Friday from 7-9 p.m., you're invited to the parking lot at the Meijer store at Auburn and Rochester roads to see fire trucks, ambulances and other equipment on display. Cider and donuts will be served.
  • Next Sunday from noon until 4 p.m., visit five Rochester Hills Fire stations; meet the firefighters, tour the stations and enjoy cider and donuts. Stations are: Station 1 (1111 Horizon Ct.); Station 2 (1251 E. Auburn); Station 3 (2137 W. Auburn); Station 4 (2723 Walton) and Station 5 (251 E. Tienken).
