Squirrel Road South of Silverbell Closes On and Off Monday for Tornado Movie

It will film intermittently on the road, the road commission says.

The Road Commission for Oakland County has issued a permit allowing a film project to intermittently close Squirrel Road south of Silver Bell Road in Orion Township through late afternoon Monday. 

The closures are expected to last about 15 minutes at a time, according to a news release from the road commission.

An untitled tornado movie starring Richard Armitage has been filming in Michigan for the past month. Earlier in August, the . In those scenes, a tornado hit a high school graduation, leaving behind a path of destruction (including a crashed school bus, situated on the hill in front of the school).

For the past two weeks, the film has been where the crew built a used car dealership for the movie.

The film is produced by New Line Cinema and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Steven Quale is directing the film from a screenplay by John Swetnam.
