Here is what he wants you to know to be safe this season.

With the fireworks season upon us, Rochester Hills Fire Chief Ron Crowell wants to remind residents to play it safe when using fireworks and provides these safety tips:

  • Set off fireworks outdoors in a clear area, away from houses, dry leaves and other flammable materials
  • Do not allow young children to play with fireworks
  • Do not try to relight or handle malfunctioning fireworks
  • Always read and follow label directions
  • Never experiment or attempt to make your own fireworks
  • Light only one at a time
  • Never throw or point fireworks at another person
  • Always have water handy in case of a fire
  • Don’t use fireworks while consuming alcohol
