Rochester Hills Church Embraces Brooksie Way With 'Flash Wave'

Members invite the public to join them Sunday morning at the corner of Walton and Old Perch.

When runners and walkers in the fifth-annual Brooksie Way Half-Marathon approach their first mile on Sunday morning, they'll be greeted with a community wave.

Members of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church have organized a “Flash Wave” to cheer on the runners.

The "wave" will be at the corner of Walton Boulevard and Old Perch Road, in the PNC Bank parking lot. The idea is for participants to greet the runners in what they call a "Hands Across the Hills" experience. Commemorative t-shirts (available by calling 248-651-6550) are optional.

Want to be part of the wave? Gather at the parking lot (there's plenty of parking) at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, as Walton is expected to close at 7:45 a.m.

In addition, the church will hold a “Healthy Body/Healthy Spirit” Worship Service at 5 p.m. Saturday with a lasagna dinner immediately following.
