Rochester Area Runners Unite in Great Clipper Race

Race helps fight hunger in community.

Rochester Hills runners will line up July 27 at Bloomer Park for The Great Clipper 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk. 

Proceeds from the Great Clipper will benefit the Rochester Regional Service Collaboration. The organization is dedicated to raising the awareness of hunger in the Rochester area through food drives and events benefiting local food banks.

The Great Clipper is sponsored by the Great Clips Adams Marketplace and University Square locations, both located in Rochester Hills. Registration the day of the event begins at 7:30 a.m.

The 5K Run begins at 8:30 a.m. with one-mile Fun Run/Walk participants starting at 9:15 a.m. All ages are welcome. 

“It is important for us to keep supporting our local food banks during the summer months when children are home for the summer,” said Maggie Bobitz, Rochester Regional Service Collaboration Community Ambassador. “This race is a fun way to get outside and still give back. We hope to see the entire community out at Bloomer Park on the 27th.”

Registration costs are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Those interested can register online at www.signmeup.com by clicking “Find an Event” and searching for “The Great Clipper 5K.” 

Registration can also be done at Great Clips Adams Marketplace 2540 S. Adams Road and Great Clips University Square 3216 Walton Blvd. Awards will be given to 5K winners of the overall male, overall female, and to overall male and female 40+ runners. 

All kids will receive a medal. Those registered by July 13th will receive a free T-shirt.

"Our two Great Clips locations are family owned salons and we are thankful to be a part of the Rochester Hills Community. This is our way of giving back and helping those in need", said Bridgette Kellogg, owner.
